"The Smiths - a band from Manchester, England, whose singer and lyricist, Morrissey, taught a generation-wide cult how to mope with melodramatic self-consciousness - are getting an entirely different treatment in "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others," a music-theater piece based on Smiths songs; the band lasted from 1982 to 1987."

Here's the gist of the good & the bad...
Philadelphia Inquirer | Steven Rea
"A mischievously inventive, surreal entertainment, one that celebrates not only Whipple Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight and Nutty Crunch Surprise but Busby Berkeley, Stanley Kubrick, the Beatles, and the outer-space acting choices of one Johnny Depp - not to mention those bushy-tailed rodents in all their bustling splendor. "
Austin Chronicle | Marc Savlov
"Depp’s performance aside, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is pure magic, swimming as it is in a black-treacle riptide of astonishing Oompa Loompa production numbers, an eerie patina of CGI airbrushing (Wonka himself looks downright pasteurized), and some almost too-clever in-jokes, and at least two references to Kurt Neumann’s 1958 film "The Fly." "
Boston Globe | Ty Burr
"The movie's overlong and there are lumps in the batter, but this is a ''Charlie" that the author would recognize as upholding his playfully dyspeptic tradition. "
Washington Post | Desson Thomson
"It's doubtful that Depp's off-kilter interpretation will have any discernible effect on the movie's success. But it remains the movie's most disappointing aspect."
New York Daily News | Jami Bernard
"The eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) can't feel pleasure, even though he's surrounded by it, so it's weirdly appropriate that the movie isn't "fun," even if it's amazing to look at."

Been experimenting with this 'Wikipedia' everyone can't stop yammering about... and realize, the future can be at once so thrilling and yet SO VERY pathetic.
Witness for yourself the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen page including a wonderful chart on how to tell the two apart, with statements like: "Though both have become style icons, Mary-Kate dresses more boho- (also called homeless-)chic, while Ashley is more conventionally stylish. Both are known for wearing a large number of accessories, and large sunglasses."
Fantastic! (Pass me a butter knife please...)
More crafty than sleek, more geek than chic. Actually... it's kind of ugly.

"The Dutch design wizards' first signature shop just opened in Milan with an upside-down decor that has oak parquet on the ceiling and chandeliers sprouting out of the floor.
Viktor & Rolf turn things upside down!
The boutique has the welcome mat on the ceiling!, and chandeliers bloom from the floor (below). The upside-down neoclassical décor includes upended columns, archways and even the front door. And of course the fashions by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, are right side up."
