Chandelier Funhouse Four

Blackchandelierfplace

If the oragami theatrics of this weeks Dior couture show weren't enough fashion for you addicts... you should have seen Jared Gold singing lead vocals for the Misfit Toys at the opening of his newest Black Chandelier Funhouse Flagship Store. The three tiered rasberry (?) marzipan cake, complete with a chocolate dipped chandelier up top was a reminder of how sweet the success of this local fashion genie has become. Every store has a different look and feel so make sure you discover this one some time soon.

I'm sorry, but this is too brilliant... Plaid Compose Manga OST

Picture_101

Plaid has released new music in the form of an official soundtrack to a feature-length adaptation of a manga (comic book) called Tekkon Kinkreet by Taiyō Matsumoto. The film is directed by an American named Michael Arias who says he's a "huge fan of Plaid", going on to say “I started listening to their music years ago, and they’ve always been part of Tekkon in my mind,” he continued. “They’ve done an incredible job–something really cinematic. I think the soundtrack is their best work to date.” [Via: Psylight]

Shooting Galleries

Gallerystroll0107

A collage of pictures I snapped last Friday night from the monthly Gallery Stroll. The 111 ladders installation by New York City artist David Hochbaum at James Anthony Gallery was really cool. Next door at Slowtrain Records the young set were flirting around bright screen printed posters by Nick & Aaron Potter. And, I was happy to finally make it to The Pickle Company to see the installations there including Stephanie Leitch's suspended honey sculpture, Todd Christensen's book jackets collage and David Ruhlman's Aerial show. It was an all around enjoyable night being the first Friday in years I was free to do what ever I wanted. That's when we decided (naturally) to go to the Red Door and finish off a bottle of Maker's Mark. Good times!

12297357 I came across some pics of Nick and me spinning at the Sundance Opening Gala at WireImage. Unfortunatey they are really tiny unless you have a password. Anyways, it was really fun, mostly because we brough our own DJ groupies Carly and Mr. ThirtyTwo but also we randomly met designer Todd Oldham who was the party decorating committee chairman. He loved the PRISM logo and flyer design... how cool is that?!

Orange Bar

Orangebar_1

Orange is a new private club "for artists, art lovers, intellectuals, free spirits and friendly souls" located at 533 South & 500 West in Salt Lake City. An industrial warehouse that briefly housed a soul food restaurant in recent years, Orange is a little out of the way but makes for a nice diversion once you discover they have a small plates menu. A lot of hype surrounds the phenomenon of petits plats but the menu here is concise and the prices reasonable, a plus when your looking for something to fill up on while getting tanked.

Lance Edwards is an artist who changed career paths along with some friends who used to tend bar at the venerable Spencer's Steak House to pursue their dream of opening Orange. His work is displayed throughout the space and he plans to have more artists showing in the near future. The old building is in promising shape after this latest redux/remodel and while some of the design choices aren't quite in keeping with it's rustic interior (a corian bar counter top, beige armchairs, odd paint colors), there is plenty of time and space to broaden their brush strokes. We wish them the best of success.

Orange is officially open to the public starting this weekend Friday January 19th. Check it out!

[Thanks for the tip Molly]
