I enjoyed hearing Jamie Gadette from City Weekly and Anna from Slowtrain Records on Radio West with local 'Alt Country' stars Band Of Annuals this morning. They are pretty dang good actually and it's nice to see that kind of talent getting support from the local scene. Listen to the show here.

Local cheese ball personal injury lawyer Keith "One Call Does It All" Barton was forced to foreclose on his tacky mega-mansion to pay off 40 Million in credit card debt. The home, which is being purchased for 7 Million (half price) by someone involved in a division of Amway sits on nine acres, has seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, ballroom, salon, gold leaf detail, marble, original stained glass, a pool, granite stone pathways, barn, loft and a greenhouse. What a waste of resources. [Via KSL.com, Thanks Kim]

I'm finally feeling better after a 72hr. quarantine. Thank you for the well wishing everyone. Well, all two of you at least. For the rest, I give you Paula Deen. Something about her too smooth airbrushed face has been giving me the creeps for about a year now. And those eyes! Watching you from every corner of the bookstore... what is she going to do with that not cute baby? Main course anyone? (Click for larger)

Sorry no posts people. I got the flu and have been in self imposed quarantine for the past 48 hours.

Maybe I've posted this before but it's the gift that keeps on giving. Brenda Dickson's "Welcome To My Home". Also see the many parody's if you can't get enough. (nsfw). Brenda is for real and according to her klassy website she's back in Hollywood creating "Red Carpet Madness".

I love the look of the new Xmission homepage.

NiteLite Presents DJ DEALER (Denver) Feb 16th @ W. Lounge

Nitelitefebx
Djdealersfx

This party is going to be one seriously HOTT MESS. Do not miss it. Get your Valentines hunnies out on the NiteLite dance floor and shake your money makers to one of the West's most respected independent DJ/Producers, DJ DEALER from Denver, CO on Saturday, February 16th.

DJ DEALER's BIO:

It really has been all about the MUSIC for DJ Dealer for over a decade when it comes to the house music scene and the music industry in general. Whether it’s releasing individual projects on notable labels such as Subliminal or doing original productions and remixes as Juke Joint or as the Pound Boys the founder and owner of Look At You Records has pretty much done it all.  As a DJ, his skills have taken him all over the world – NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Rome, Melbourne, Milan, Sydney, Berlin, Johannesburg, and Manchester to name a few. Additionally, he has been able to play alongside such DJ legends as Frankie Knuckles, “Little” Louie Vega, and Steve “Silk” Hurley. Although DJ Dealer seemingly just goes about his business “quietly”, much of his production work has made quite a bit of noise in the house community.  Remixes of Angie Stone “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” Whitney Houston “Love That Man,” and Mary J. Blige “Your Child” all went #1 on the charts and original productions “K Pasa” and “The Right Way” were huge club smashes all over the world.

In addition to all of this, Dealer has found the time to establish one of the world’s most recognized independent house labels, Look At You Records, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2007.  Dealer started Look At You with a commitment to releasing quality house music and a dedication to providing a whole new generation of DJs and producers with exposure to an international audience.  DJ Dealer has done original productions and remixes with artists like Joi Cardwell, Lisa Millett, Dajae, Usher, Mariah Carey, Byron Stingily, Brandy, Yolanda Adams, Kim English and Sandy Rivera.  Look at You has also released records from artists like Blaze, The Basement Boys, Soul Providers, Knee Deep, Bini & Martini, The Audiowhores, and many others.  Dealer has set the bar high – past, present, and future. Scheduled for release in 2008, DJ Dealer will release his first full length artist album tentatively titled “Joyride”.  The album will feature many surprises and will include collaborations with many house superstars including Lisa Millett, Inaya Day, and Charles Dockins – more info and details coming soon! Jesse Walker Reluctant Media Darling?

Dear Readers,

I was pleasantly surprised about being voted "Best DJ" by City Weekly readers for this years Slammy Awards.

First the InUtah Sexy thing and now this. I'm really not trying to be a whorish media darling type, I promise. I run this silly little website and as a DJ I put myself out there, sure... but that's part of the job of promoting entertainment. Either way, know that I don't go out every night thinking I'm THE best DJ around. Honestly, I have more off nights than most... and can think of plenty of other disque jockeys who I look up to locally, and who are certainly more proficient on the technical end of the craft.

Not sure where I'm going with this. If I am good at anything I guess, it's simply my being an insufferable music fiend who has remained true to my own diluted vision of the world in sound and vision. I guess I just wanted to say thank you to anyone who recognized that this year and to everybody who took the time to vote. It's really great!

Thanks,

Jesse

You'll be proud to live in Utah after you wander through the comments section of the latest Salt Lake Tribune article on Salt Lake's proposed domestic partner registry, which is being stonewalled by Republicans for fear of the dreaded 'Gay Agenda'. Something about Rep. Chris Buttars face (see the pictures in the article) speaks of a man who has no joy or happiness in this life accept when denying it to others.

The rumor mill tell me that Fabric rejected this Justice Mix submitted to them in December so instead, they put it online here.

Disco Wallpaper

Mirrortile

When I was in San Francisco this past year, I saw a clothing boutique that had an entire wall of disco mirror tile. The owner told me she got it from a place in LA called Kit Kraft and now I'm passing that information on to anyone who might want something precious of their own covered in fabulous disco mirror. Visit KitKraft.biz.

Sexy In SLC? You Decide.

Sexy

Someone must have lost a bet when I was featured as an übersexy of the "Sexies" by the InUtah paper. The issue arriving today is dedicated to the fluffy section of said paper and it's participants up till now. I'm not sure how I feel about it really but I gave my all and 'worked it' as hard as I could at the photo shoot ...so I hope you all like it and hang it up in your lockers and stuff. Ha ha ha!

The "Sexies" party is at the Hotel on Saturday so come feed us grapes and bon-bon's .

I wish I had seen Sunshine in a theater. It's one of the best looking and though provoking Sci-Fi films in years from director Danny Boyle of 28 Days Later and the classic Trainspotting.
