Make trendy face masks to fight flu - Russia official asks.

On December 24th Signed & Numbered will be closing the doors at their current Broadway location to reopen on January 2nd at their new location in Sugarhouse at 2100 South 2100 East (right next to Blue Plate Diner)! Tentative store hours will be: Tues - Sun 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. They will be using the change to focus on custom framing including unique handmade frames. Also, stay tuned for a satellite Signed & Numbered location at Kilby Court soon (750 South 330 West), to be open during their shows from 7:00 - 10:00 PM.

Make sure you catch their last guest show at the Broadway location with U.K. artist Matt Lloyd. The Brighton, U.K.-based artist will be showing screen printed portraits of characters from "The Wire", as well as his large woodblock prints of jazz musicians, and his contributions to past Signed & Numbered group shows. The artist will be in attendance for this event, so be sure to greet him on his very first trip across the pond!

Make, Model, Decade & Color

Our friend Stewf who who started the highly popular Mid-Century Modernist has finally launched his new Chromeography site in full. It's simply an interactive gallery of chrome logos and lettering affixed to vintage automobiles and electric appliances that you can explore by make/model, decade, color, and lettering style. There are also tags for emblems which are not on cars but appliances and gadgets like refrigerators and cameras. Submissions and feedback are welcome.

Rural America Meets Contemporary Graphic Design in "Typeface"

OMG, I forgot to mention that the Salt Lake City AIGA is doing a one time showing of a cool movie called Typeface tonight at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Tower Theater, 876 E. 900 S., Salt Lake City, Utah 84105

Typeface focuses on a rural Midwestern museum and print shop where international artists meet retired craftsmen and together navigate the convergence of modern design and traditional technique.

One weekend each month, the quiet of Two Rivers, Wisconsin is interrupted as carloads of artisans drive in from across the Midwest. The place comes alive as printmaking workshops led by, and filled with, some of the region’s top creative talent descend on the sleepy enclave. The museum is significant to the town’s history, but more importantly, its existence is critical to the worldwide design community who are passionate about the history of their craft and its function in the contemporary field. They believe the future of their industry may lie in the past.

Typeface brings this fascinating junction of historical and contemporary, as well as rural and urban America together for enjoyment and contemplation. This film will be of interest to art and graphic design enthusiasts, to teachers as an educational resource, and to anyone looking for a film about perseverance and preservation in the heart of America.

F_ghani (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Started in the electronic music scene as a drum 'n' bass MC on small parties back in the island. In 2001 went on a trip to the Dominican Republic and learned about Minimal Tech music while he was there and was inspired by this new House movement. His biggest influences in the genre were people like Richie Hawtin (Plastic Man), Marco Carola and Luciano from Chile (currently one of the biggest names in Ibiza). He moved to Salt Lake City in 2007 to continue bringing his love for this music in the Utah scene.

Perez (Mexico City, Mexico)
[Minimal Tech/Tech House]
Perez's interest in music was initiated early in life when he assisted at a music school and developed an interest in different types of instruments. Some friends introduced him to the electronic music scene when he was 18 through PsyTrance and he was hooked. He met F_ghani in Salt Lake City in 2007 after working on a few music events together and decided to start doing minimal techno to see if people liked it - and luckily they did! It's been said that he brings down 'the funk' and on this night he intends to do just that. So get ready for the rollicking fiesta Perez will create on the dance floor.

San Francisco Chronological - A Superhuman Music & Food Journal

In a moment of disbelief while flying home this past Monday, my travel partner and I jotted down a chronological list of the individual things we'd accomplished while in San Francisco over the weekend. The list included my deejay set at Wish and a superhuman amount of sightseeing thanks to our overly generous guides Mo and Garwin - who thankfully had a car, killer driving skills and influence with the gods of weather, parking meters and giant door men. Amazingly we counted more than 50 unforgettable 'moments' achieved in under three days. I'm missing you already San Francisco!!!
