Under Current, the sibling bar attached to Current Restaurant has only been open for three weeks but both are proving to be an exquisite addition to downtown dining and drinking. Under Current bills itself as a friendly neighborhood cocktail bar with a focus on oysters, seafood, beer, wine, amari, aperitif, gin, absinthe. I stopped in early this Saturday, counting myself lucky to sip specialty cocktails from bar managers Amy Eldridge and Ryan Manning on what they informed me was World Gin Day. Not that I needed an excuse to visit a third time. The small plates menu is adventurous enough to keep visitors motors running while gawking at the long and luxuriant marble bar, or just waiting for a table next door where Current is serving some of the best fish and oysters around.
