The great ship NiteLite will rise from the misty aquaboogie this Saturday - rain or shine - with Capn' Jesse Walkerrrrr at the helm. The one and only Danny Dance is pushing her out to sea and then we intend to get very, very lost... proper mental deepness for all the crew! Shake that bootie!!!

Bio: Jesse Walker has promoted his unique vision of underground dance music in Idaho and Utah since the early nineties. Throughout this current decade still, he has been intertwined with the next best clubs and events in Salt Lake City including his own legendary Just Wanna Dance, Prism, and long running NiteLite gatherings. Jesse's unique ability to read and transform the energy where he plays has garnered a devout following at home in Utah as well as praise from his peers across the spectrum of dance music.

When he's not playing host to some of the most respected DJ's in the country, "Mr." Jesse Walker can be heard mixing his uncompromising blend of deep, funky, intelligent music at a range of events from festivals to fashion shows, rock concerts and sports exhibitions. Highlights include "REFLECTIVE SKIN," a collaborative sound installation he helped produce for the 2006 Utah Arts Festival, performances at the 2002 Winter Olympics, official Sundance Film Festival Galas, Salt Lake's Gay Pride and top billing with bands like WAR, EnVogue, Pepe Deluxe and Brazilian Girls. In 2008 Walker was voted "Best DJ" by readers of Salt Lake City Weekly Magazine. He also daylights as the chief visual consultant at Contact Design in downtown Salt Lake.

Jesse Walker founded the website NewCityMovement.com in 1998 to promote the future of music, design and culture through the lens of life in the Intermountain West. "NCM" celebrated 10 years in 2008 while surpassing one million visitors.

In rare form, and capping off an already beautiful day, Julius The Mad Thinker brought his deepest vibe yet to our party people at W. Lounge and devestated with the purity of house music. Peaking at the right moments, this night simply full of soulful magic beyond compare and smiling happy people who coudn't get enough. Julius 'The Mad Thinker' (Chicago) Returns to NiteLite May 16th @ W. Lounge

 

With Julius the Mad Thinker, you must "Witness the Dynamic."

This illustrious 'dynamic' was first identified by the founder of Large Music, Jeff Craven, when he invited Julius to open and close the first annual Get Large party at the Winter Music Conference. From there, John Davis, a top NYC promoter and co-founder of Body&SOUL, witnessed the 'dynamic' when he came upon Julius and installed him as a resident of Sunday Sessions in NYC. Chicago house pioneer Chip E, witnessed the 'dynamic' when he invited Julius to be interviewed for house music documentary, the Unusual Suspects, to which Julius was the youngest interviewee to appear. And NYC's Undaground Archives Choice Award gave tribute to the 'dynamic' when Julius was awarded the "Best Emerging Talent" recognition.

First exposed to dance music in the sixth grade, Julius went on to become a DJ and producer in 1994. Since that time, Julius has developed a charisma behind the turntables that can only be described as a dynamic that fills the room. Coupled with "the Mad Thinker" title, which was given to him by MC Miles Bentley of Rec Center, Julius makes no move as an artist haphazardly. Be it the tracks he plays, the order in which he plays them or the EQing which brings out a melody or rhythm in a whole new way - all these elements which comprise his dynamic are meticulously plotted throughout his improvisational creative process.

As the co-founder and partner of the internationally renowned promotional and DJ collective, 3Degrees Global, and a resident of the 3Degrees "Some Call It House . . . We Call It Home" tour, the dynamic has been witnessed throughout the most notorious clubs of house music's homeland in Chicago, including Smartbar, Soundbar, Sonotheque, Ohm, The Note and Zentra. Across the nation the dynamic has been witnessed on the main stage at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Marques Wyatt's DEEP event in LA, Soul Revival in Boston, Devotion at The End Up & Pink in San Francisco, Club Five in Washington DC, Pearl at Nikki Beach in Miami, Kevin Hedge and Louie Vega's Roots at Cielo in New York as well as stops in Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and France. In addition the dynamic has cross pollinated with house legends via Julius DJing alongside Frankie Knuckles, Joe Claussell, Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Lil' Louis, Derrick Carter, Louie Vega, Derrick May and Ron Trent amongst others.

For your weekend easedown I'll be delivering a rare downtempo set with eclectic bits ranging from nudisco to dubstep and drum n' bass this Sunday at W. Lounge. NiteLite with MAURICIO AVILES (San Francisco) Feb 21st @ W. Lounge

You may remember our friend Mauricio Aviles from his appearances at NCM's PRISM a few years back. No? Well, now that the dust has settled and we're bumpin' and grinding in a smaller venue that's SO much more our speed, he's trippin' back - on his birthday no less - for NiteLite February!

Coming from a latin and house music background, the El Salvadorian born Aviles has regularly pushed dance music boundaries in his native San Francisco. First gaining recognition as a fixture playing with Miguel Migs and Naked Music, Mauricio was one of a handful of DJs that propelled the SF Deep House scene to the world's consciousness in the 90s. But he didn't stop there! He's remained true to his diverse musical passions by producing tracks as 'Movido' on Loveslap Recordings, spinning regularly, often at boutique hotels and fashion events, all while simultaneously pioneering the red haut avant-disco scene. His current Bay Area parties DRUNK & DISKONNECTED and GRITT are where glitterball greats like Darshan Jesrani of Metro Area, Jon Howard, Mark E Quark, 40 Thieves, Safety Scissors, Landshark, Solar and Lance De Sardi never fail to funk you UP.

NiteLite Presents MASTER KEV (NYC) Oct 19th @ W. Lounge

Master Kev's victory in a mix-off contest in the 90s proved that the years of obsessing over the radio, studying underground dance and beat syncopation, and accumulating a killer collection of records had finally paid off. This win resulted in more live performances. And as the number of shows soared, so did Kev's talent. Soon after, hero Tony Humphries called to request that Kev join forces with his Yellorange Productions label. His answer? A triumphant "HELL YEAH." After spinning at the 2000 Winter Music Conference, and embarking on a European tour, his career was officially on the rise for real. Also in 2000, Master Kev helped form the Underground Collective – a collective of DJs, musicians, and singers created to draw exposure in the dance music industry to major labels. Last year, Kev hooked up with David "Vibes" Tobon and John Crockett to work on original productions, forming MKDV. They produced a track called "Twisted" which has earned a tremendous amount of buzz and has had huge early support from various renowned DJs. At this very special NiteLite, local house fans will get a chance to experience what has made a certain Kevin J. Finegan from Matawan, NJ the Master!

NiteLite Turns 1 w/ Special Guest Jay Tripwire (Vancouver) and Jesse Walker, Sept 20th 2008

NiteLite is already 1 year old, can you believe it!? Get deep down & funky with us on Sept 20th with special guest JAY TRIPWIRE direct from Vancouver, Canada. With over 100 worldwide magazine features, write-ups  and record reviews to date, Jay Tripwire has moved from a cornerstone in the West Coast warehouse scene of the early 90's, to performing in over 200 cities around the globe. His signature fusion of Detroit textures and intricate rhythms with a classic house touch has pushed him "ahead of everyone else," according to MUZIK.

While his personal arsenal of re-edits and comfort in arranging extended DJ sets lasting eight hours or more keeps him consistently booking tour dates, it's his over 250,000 vinyl records sold with 100+ releases and remixes on some of the finest underground house labels that he's perhaps most known for.
