The Church Of Tony

Lot's of SLC locals, including myself know about the fine furniture craftsmanship of Tony Church. But until today I didn't realize he created such a great 'collection' of cohesive pieces – all catalogued at his Domophile website.

A former student of architecture and design at the University of Detroit, Tony Church relocated to Salt Lake City to build his furniture design empire, which has culminated in Domiphile. For the last twelve years he's designed and built custom furniture for clients in the United States and Europe out of his Utah based studios.

Domiphile's (optionally funky-coloured) cantilevered side table and desk feature a dovetailed, natural birch ply drawer with concealed, soft close slides.

All of the heirloom quality pieces are handcrafted usingsustainably harvested and certified hardwoods: white ash and black walnut. Drawers are constructed of natural birch plywood, a fast growing species and exceptionally stable material. Waterborne sealers, painted and topcoat finishes are low VOC environmentally friendly. Black Walnut pieces are finished with a traditional hand-rubbed Danish oil before being sealed to perfection. You can even use request or provide reclaimed wood for drawer fronts to lessen your furniture's footprint.

The dining table is available in any combination of ash and walnut, and is shown here with an ash base and walnut top.

The Domophile's ever-so-subtle “d.” logo is tastefully engraved into the lower inside surface of one leg of each piece.
