The Great Spiral Jetty Day Trip
Last Sunday a ragtag group of friends took a long overdue trip to the Spiral Jetty about 2hrs North/West of Salt Lake and it was a magically surreal day. The Jetty is arguably one of the most imporant sculptural works in America. Thanks to our host Adam Bateman, curator and board member at CUAC Gallery we got a nice amount of background on the work by Robert Smithson.
On the way there we stopped by the Golden Spike National Historic Site and on the way back the ATK defense contractor and their strange missile boneyard/playground. The overcast day leant itself nicely to the alien nature of all of this as you can imagine. Well, you'll see below. (Also up at my Flickr).
