Rye, a new venture from the fine folks behind Urban Lounge, has opened its doors.

Here are some details about Rye's origins and offerings via their press release:

The owners of Urban Lounge, Chris Wright, Lance Saunders and Will Sartain, have always talked about having a restaurant next door to their already successful bar and music venue — so when Al Forno’s closed its doors, they sprung into action.

“There’s three things that bands ask me the minute they unload: Where can I find good food, coffee and a beer?” Wright said.

The concept of Rye is simple. It’s a place where people can get early morning eats and late-night bites. Beer and cocktails will also be available.

Rye and the Urban Lounge were meant to complement each other.

On nights when Urban Lounge is hosting concerts, audio and video from the shows will be pumped into Rye’s dining room. This along with the hand-crafted interior (designed by Ryan Manning) makes Rye a truly unique space.

“A lot of blood sweat and beers went into Rye,” said Saunders, who helped build the restaurant from the ground up.

To make sure Rye runs smoothly, Wright, Saunders and Sartain recruited help from all over Salt Lake City.

Tommy Nguyen, formerly of Takashi, will head the kitchen. His cuisine is diner food with an Asian fusion twist — think imaginative scrambles and pork belly bowls at breakfast and shoyu fried chicken for dinner.

Willa Wright, Chris’s wife, will co-manage with Samantha Starr, formerly of Mazza. Anyone who has had pastries from The Rose Establishment will recognize Alexa Norlin’s work. Norlin helped with the pastries, which along with Charming Beard Coffee will be available at the cafe section of Rye.

Coffee bar will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Brunch and lunch daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; dinner from 6 p.m. to midnight, with extend hours until 2 a.m. on the weekends.
