Press Release:
PechaKucha night - Salt Lake City vol.4, the fourth event for our city, will be on February 18th at The State Room. PKn is an international event, with over 380 cities organizing events, which gives creative minds and young designers an informal forum to present their latest projects, ideas, and inspirations. PechaKucha nights are a place to meet, network, and share a drink with a growing commu...nity of like minded people… to have real people getting together in a real live situation sharing what they get tinglingly excited about.

"The idea behind PechaKucha is to keep presentations concise, the interest level up and to have many presenters sharing their ideas within the course of one night. Therefore the 20x20 PechaKucha format was created: each presenter is allowed a slideshow of 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each. This results in a total presentation time of 6 minutes 40 seconds on a stage before the next presenter is up...Presenters (and much of the audience) are usually from the design, architecture, photography, art, and creative fields, but recently it has also stretched over to the business world." -Klein Dytham architecture - founders of PechaKucha night.

The current list of presenters for vol. 4 is as follows:
Hank Louis - founder Design Build Bluff
Scott Hinton - founder Hspace design build
Kat Martin - artist and muralist
Bonnie Sucec & Susan Beck - painters
Jared Gallardo and Jeremy Carver - Jellyfish 12,000
Imbue Design - architecture and design
Mark Hofeling – film and television production design
Dave Newkirk – Photography
Darby Doyle – Archaeological Historian
Spencer Cottam- Inventor

A special intermission dance performance will be provided by Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, who will be presenting an adaptation of the recently premiered ‘Touching Fire’, a collaboration between choreographer Charlotte Boye-Christensen, architect Nathan Webster and writer David Kranes.

Mr. Jesse Walker will be keeping the mood up, providing music during intermissions and following the presentations… until we clear out.

PechaKucha nights are organized by individually authorized PechaKucha night city organizers. PechaKucha nights are put together for the content and inspiration the presenters provide, and are not run for profit. Salt Lake City's first three events have been great successes, each pulling in crowds over 150 with two limited capacity venues selling out. The capacity for this venue is near 300 people and we would love to have another sell-out crowd!
